JustJobs Network’s Executive Director, Sabina Dewan, received a special invitation to address the Economic Committee of Vietnam’s National Assembly. Drawing from her expertise and interactions with policymakers in the United States, Ms. Dewan spoke in Hanoi on October 16, 2016 about public perceptions of trade and politics surrounding the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) in the United States, and the implications for Vietnam. The TPP could come with significant benefits for Vietnam’s economy, but the cost of adjustment and compliance would also be significant.
Earlier in 2016, Ms. Dewan was requested to testify before the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee on the Trans-Pacific Partnership, where she argued that “labor provisions in trade agreements are one of the few levers we have to address concerns pertaining to workers.
