About

Kaushiki Sanyal is a Fellow at JustJobs Network, where her responsibilities include
managing the Centre for Gender Analysis, a new initiative of the organisation. She
also engages with research in areas such as the platform economy, labour issues
and the effects of AI on the future of work. Kaushiki is also a Visiting Faculty at
Kautilya School of Public Policy and IIM Udaipur. She co-founded and headed
Sunay Policy Advisory Pvt Ltd, a public policy research and training consultancy
from 2016 to 2021. At Sunay, her clients included McKinsey India, TATA Trust,
World Health Organisation, Change.org and the Australian High Commission.

Kaushiki has around 20 years of experience in the field of public policy and has
worked with PRS Legislative Research, ISB’s Bharti Institute of Public Policy, NDTV
and Capital IQ. She has consulted with the World Bank, Vidhi Centre for Legal
Policy, Kamonohashi Project and the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. Her research interest lies at the intersection of public policy, management, technology and advocacy. She has co-authored three books with the Oxford University Press – Public Policy in India (2017), Shaping Policy in India: Alliance, Advocacy, Activism (2018) and Artificial Intelligence and India (2020) — and contributed a number of book chapters and journal articles. She also writes in the popular media regularly.

Kaushiki is an alumna of the U.S. Department of State’s prestigious International
Visitor’s Leadership Program (IVLP). She was chosen to participate in ‘WE CAN’
Business Acceleration Programme for women organised by Dhriiti and funded by the U.S. Embassy and Cherie Blair Foundation. She has a PhD in International
Relations and a Masters in Political Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New
Delhi. She has completed two executive courses – ‘Evaluation for Development’,
conducted by UNICEF and ISB and JPAL’s course on Impact Evaluation.

Kaushiki enjoys reading and plans to write detective fiction when she retires. She
also loves to travel to off-beat places and is trying to master Odissi dance.
