The Centre for Gender Analysis (CGA) is a pioneering initiative by the JustJobs Network aimed at conducting systematic and comprehensive assessments of instruments of public governance—systems, policies, regulations, and budgets, and more toward improving women’s economic empowerment.

Built upon a systematic methodology that utilises measurable indicators, CGA seeks to instigate structural, systemic, and, over time, behavioural change. Our mission is clear: to revolutionise decision-making processes, reshape budget allocations, and influence policies, regulations, and schemes toward improving the quality and quantity of women’s economic participation and their outcomes.

Our unwavering commitment lies in catalysing systemic change and fostering an environment that empowers women economically.

      Fare-free Public Transit and Women’s Economic Participation: An Analysis of the Shakti Yojane in Karnataka, India

      This report is the first in a series of three reports, undertaken in collaboration with the Fiscal Policy Institue, Government of Karnataka.       Mobility and Women’s Employment Outcomes

      Karnataka’s Shakti scheme, which provides free bus rides to women, aims to improve women's access to better jobs, education, and public spaces by easing mobility restrictions. JJN, in partnership with the Fiscal Policy Institute, Government of Karnataka, is conducting a baseline study to understand the initial impact of the scheme on women’s mobility and their access to employment opportunities and public spaces.
